Spooked.

I usually don't post when I'm working 3 straight days. Today is special.

I was preparing my patient to go to MRI. Two MRI techs were there to help me. The pt's watch needs to come off as MRI and metal are not good companions. I went ahead and removed the watch from his left wrist. The tech helped me route the watch around his pulse monitor wire. I then placed the watch in his drawer. I was thinking that it will not go anywhere as we'll be back within an hour or so.

After the procedure, we returned to his room and the first thing that came to my mind was the watch. I opened the drawer and the watch was gone. I looked everywhere. Checked the drawers several times. I felt right away that some force is playing with me but yet again, it could be human.

I reported the incident to my charge nurse and she too looked around. I called the MRI techs if they found a watch and one of them stated that I placed it in the drawer. I told them that the watch is gone. I asked around and no one has seen a watch. I took out the bedside drawer to the hallway and dismantled it. No watch anywhere.

After a few hours, the family came and I told them what happened. They were sad that the watch is missing. They thank me for telling them and I told them to get the ring for safe keeping. After a few moments of visiting, they left for dinner.

After giving report to the night nurse, I mentioned to her about the missing watch. I showed her which drawer it was. I pointed at the drawer and opened it. WELL, there it was. The watch was in the drawer, where I left it. I felt goosebumps all over my body. I told the charge nurse what I found and she too was surprised. This is too weird. Man, I'm totally spooked. This never happened to me before.

My charge nurse was telling me that she doesn't believe in ghosts so someone has taken and returned the watch. She was mad that someone was crazy enough to pull this trick. I felt that something has taken it and was playing with me. I interviewed the other patient's husband if he say someone go in and out of the room when we were out. He said no one came in.

The patients family returned later and I told them that the watch was found. They thanked me but I told them that the watch just reappeared in the drawer. The niece asked her uncle if he wants them to keep the watch for safe keeping. He said it's okay, he got the watch from WalMart. I was happy to tell the family that the watch is back but I can't believe that such an event will happen to me. I did pray hard that the watch will be found but not back in the drawer. I'm just speechless.

Walking on my way to the parking lot I felt some weird feeling about the possibility that some spirit has been playing with me. It's distracting as I worry more about how people might think that I was stealing a watch from an old man. I also wonder if there is a message being sent to me. A warning perhaps. Who knows, I just hope it's just a prank.
