Tax time and 10th year death anniversary.

I finally turned in my tax return. Ahh, such relief. It's a relief that this American tradition to turn in a portion of my hard earned money to the government is done for this year. It's easier to call it a tradition compared to other things as trying to avoid this tradition can land you in jail or wages taken from you by the Internal revenue service, the government office that collects taxes.

After meeting with my tax guy, off to DJ Bibingkahan, a Filipino restaurant. Another tradition I have after turning in my tax return. I ordered some kalabasa and talong with lechong kawali. My cheat day. I have been great with my choices lately, eating fish, vegetables and only a part of the steamed rice that is a given in a Filipino buffet. The food was delicious but the utensils were soft plastic, unable to handle the tough part of the lechon. It was rather frustrating but a small complain in a fast food type restaurant.

The drive back home was warm and for the first time this year, I have to use my car's ac. With gas prices at $3.67/gallon, I deserve it.

I thought of stopping over at the cemetery for mom's 10th year death anniversary but it's too sad to mix with tax day. I need to avoid depressing moments in my life. I'll find another day to commemorate her anniversary. It's not really to celebrate her death but to celebrate her life.
I thought a small sansribal cake will do the trick. yummy!
