Prayers answered.

I came back to work, after almost 2 weeks off due to illness, only to find out that two of my co-workers has resigned. According to the grape vine they were asked to resign. Nurse A is an RN with a long history of being fired. A nurse knew her from another facility and her records were bad. According to a supervisor that I happen to chit chat with, she makes a lot of mistakes with her admissions and doctors are about given up with her. I witnessed one time she was asking the doctor for orders for an admission and she doesn't have transfer orders from the other facility. The doctor asked her to read the orders and she doesn't have it. Dr. H was so upset he told her that she can't call him for orders without information about the patient. Most doctors will say continue with same orders knowing that certain RNs are on top of things, meaning they can be trusted. This trust takes years to develop or consistent performance that tells the doctors he can trust your medical decisions. Nurse A doesn't have this trust because she's new.

Dr H even told a secretary that if they need him and he's out unavailable that they can ask me and I will take care of things for him. Boy, never heard that from a doctor, really made my day. I'll make him coffee any time. hehehe.

Back to nurse A, I don't know what mistakes she were doing but admissions paperwork is easy after a few rounds with it. Okay it's atleast 15 pages but it's really easy. If any one has questions there are three other RNs and a supervisor to ask. No big deal. so, they ask her to leave because of consistent poor performance.

Another nurse, nurse B, is an LVN. She is a dimwit and she knows it. I even told her that she needs to consider another line of work. She responded with a "I want to go into sports medicine" I almost fell of my chair. Jeez, what part of "consider another line of work" doesn't she understand. She's not an immigrant, she's US born and speaks english well. Hmm, could be comprehension problems. Who freaking knows. But this chick is dumb. How she passed LVN license exam is beyond me. Anyway, she also dances in the hallway at night. What the hell is she doing? Freaking me out. She gives report to day nurses and she doesn't know her patient. Sheez, 12 hours with your patients and you don't know them, incompetent. She will make doodling marks instead of writing important information. Pretending she was writing something. Ha ha ha, too funny dangerous. Considering we have a lot of dumb LVNs she takes the trophy.

Nurse B once hang and IV medication without mixing the drug with the solution. She gave the patient water and the powder medicine is still in the vial. You need to break a seal to mix the fluid with the powder. Since LVNs don't do this, she didn't know. The patient found the medicine unmixed and called the supervisor complaining about his nurse. Funny shit, she was trying to impress her RN ( we work on teams of RN and LVN). Stupidity rules that night.

Nurse B also forgot to draw blood for a stat cardiac enzyme. Patient ended up in the hospital and had a heart attack. That can get yourself fired. I once watched her draw blood from a vein so big no one can miss it. Well, nitwit here had the needle's angle so wrong that the needle basically went under the first layer of skin. It's like tape over a needle. I've never seen shit like this in 12 years. I told her I'll do it and her needle angle needs to be atleast 45 degrees. She insist that her phlebotomy teacher taught her that. Dumb dumb. A supervisor asked her how much time does she have to give a medication. She answered an hour before or after the due time. BEEEEEEEEPPPPP. (It's thirty minutes before or after due time.) Wrong, pissed the super and the super asked her to bring the textbook she is referencing. This happened in front of everyone in the nursing station. I'll quit if shit like that happens to me. Not this nurse, she has not concept of embarrassment. It's her middle name.

When I was off sick I thought about this two morons on how they can hurt someone and can't believe how management can just wait and tolerate them. I heard my boss tell me that she wants nurse B to be successful in our hospital. The saving person was one of the supervisor who track their performance in the past 6 months. She actually talked my boss on getting rid of them. She has proof too as she is the one who audits the charts.

When I came back to work 2 days ago, they were gone. Names lined out of the schedule with resigned written on them. Nice, prayers answered. I usually leave facilities where idiots roam their halls. Today, I just ride the wave and hope people like these gets fired. So far it works, I've seen several dimwits (RNs and LVNs) leave in the past 2 years.

March already?

Most of my time has been consumed by playing World of Warcraft. This online role-playing game is bigger than anything that came out of computing in decades. I've been playing/working on PC's and Macs since 1984. My collection of obsolete macs and PC's can attest to that.

The biggest appeal of WOW is that it is the game that we never had back in the 1980's. Text games were that huppla then. The adventure games that came out were high end equipment hungry. A student can't really afford one unless their father owns one. Anyway, I can never play the game right because of bugs and other problems.

When my brother showed me this game I was a little reluctant because of time involved in playing it. Well, that wasn't a problem as time is free and I have plenty of it.

Before I know it, I have 8 characters of different class and professions. Playing WOW was playing the game I wish I had 25 years ago. It's god sent for socially inept people like me. I spent hours at a time exploring and questing. I love soloing as it eliminates that need to get rid of a partner. My borther has a high level character that pretty much destroys everything on target when I need help with an elite monster.

Looking at my posts, I have neglected this blog for the reason that I am enjoying myself playing a great game. Not all will agree with my assessment but it's my life and it's my pleasure. My life may not be balanced but what is balance? I waited 25 years for this and I will play. Bwahahaha.
