Christmas in Las Vegas.

I spent the Christmas season in Las Vegas with family and friends. It was one of the best in recent memory. Food was good, accomodation was excellent, my dog was there to enjoy his doggie life in the largest backyard he has ever seen.

We went to two buffets, played a little bit of slot machine, and went to Zumanity show. The Zumanity show was the first show I've seen in Las Vegas and it was not dissappointing to say the least. Topless women wearing itsy bitsy thongs doing gymnastics on a huge bowl of water was a sight to remember. Just about every fetish was explored.

We also visited the Hoover Dam. It didn't look that big as in the movies but believe me, it's huge.

Got fired.

When I didn't show up for that meeting with nursing administration on Tuesday, they canned me. I feel like spam. Oh well, i have work with a nursing registry and now it's on my terms. I don't miss working the schedule I didn't like. The staffing clerk kept asking me when I'll be available next and I told her I'll call er whenever.

The fact that I was fired for insubordination because I wasn't there in that meeting was a little harsh. Fortunately, I have built myself a teflon extrior that nothing seem to stick on me anymore. As long as I'm a step ahead of the game, I'm fine.

I scheduled myself on the nightshift. This way, there will be no doctors around and I can live in peace. The nursing shortage is not getting any better and there is no relief in site. I can see doing this another ten years and perhaps retiring. Shoot, 20 years as a nurse is good enough for me.

I always think about what my brother told me about how patients suck the life out of nurses. On how the profession produces a bunch of bitter old women that seem to fill the dark corridors of hospital wards. Jeez, those old farts have 15-25 years of experience and they will tell you that. Most young nurses are offended by it as I was 10 years ago. They are bitter, menopausal, youth sapping individuals who will nag you and burden you with their insidous ways to steal your idealism. It's almost as if they are trying to turn me like them.

What I do now is to try to bring out the goodness in my patients. Those who resist are obviously insane, bipolar, and psychopaths. These people are just the bile of society. Green, putrid, repugnant little people who are just there. Sucking on the already burdened health care systems. They are disabled, and we tax payers are supporting them. They should be sent out somewhere where they can be useful. Wait, useful for what? They are as useless as spent uranium rods. Lets place them in pods and send them out to space in some remote planet or meteor.

I started looking into more travel nurse agencies so i can work in the Bay area. These bastards are so cheap they make me puke. I may have to abort my plans if these angencies don't show me the money.

The more I look into going pack to engineering, the more I get discouraged. There are no real jobs out there. I will try to review and see if I can pass the EIT. I've read job discriptions out there and most stuff I don't know. Jeez, are there actually people out there that knows those stuff? I hope so.

As I told one doctor- I don't see patients, I take care of them. Good day.

A friend's joining the Army.

Just recieved a call from an Army recruiter. Aparently, a good friend of mine is having his papers ready to join god's army. The Army personnel wanted to meet up with me so I can fill up some letter of recommendation for him. I told her I'm holiday mode and will not be available anytime soon. She insists that it will only take 5 mins. but I told her that is 5 mins that I don't have right now.

Thinking about it, why should I help my friend kill himself. Taken that he will only work within the hospital grounds, a war zone is a war zone. It's no amusement park.

I don't know what is foing on with my friend but obviously he is back on the crazy mode. He told me he wanted to join the police force a couple of years ago and I talked him out of it. Why work in dangerous conditions? Being a police is like walking with a bullseye on your chest. Sure they have a role in society, no question about it. My friend's a nurse. he might not like the conditions at his work but the condition in Iraq and Afghanistan is no where better than in the E.R.

I'm trying to contact him but no answer. I guess 'll keep trying.

As I told one doctor- I don't see my patients, I take care of them.

Ice Harvest.

This is a nice movie. It's like a reunion of the movie Pushing Tin. Billy Bob Thurton and John Cusack together again. Too bad Angelina Jolie was not part of the cast. Anyway there is enough deaths and plot twists to occupy my bored mind during the show. Gotta see this movie, better during matinee so you don't have to pay full price.

Jugheads, a movie that is so boring I will watch Rambo again.

This movie shouldn't have been released. I got so restless I wanted to leave. The worst thing was I paid good money to see this. I didn't have any free movie tickets with me. The best part of the movie is the $9 small diet coke and nachos. There is not enough fighting, sex, and tank chase to keep my interst going. I remembered the stories told by an old friend who was in desert storm. His stories were more interesting than the freaking movie.

Don't pay for this movie. Wait to rent it and at the same time write a blog while you are watching it. Atleast you can't say you wasted your time.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Since I have a ton of free movie tickets, I decided to use some of them this week. This present installment to the ever growing collection of adventures of the young wizard is the most exciting I've seen. There is not one boring moment in this movie. Go see this movie, you will love it. I can't wait for the DVD to come out.
